Might be a great design if more info was provided, hence my low star rating. How do the chickens get to the different levels? What structure did you use for the coop itself? If the chix spend a lot of time on the upper levels, the floors will become a poopy mess. Maybe if they were built with low surrounding sides, they could be filled with sand or shavings... a more comfortable hangout area. I really do love this design concept, but lots more details and photos are needed, especially seeing the chickens actually use it.

Your overall setup looks really nice! The changes you made from the original plans sound like they make a lot of sense. If only you had known the link to the Purina site wouldn't stay working forever, you might have included more dimensions and specifics. I really appreciate the close up shots of some working details.
Curious... Do you ever have a problem with the pop door blowing closed while chix are out free ranging?

Thank you! Yeah, I don't know why they took down the plans. I still have the PDF, if you're wanting to build your own Bed & Breakfast send me a pm work your email and I can get it to you.

I have not had the pop door blow shut, but it does have pretty large hinges on it from our local Restore.

The only thing showing any wear is the ramp to the pop door, but I believe that's just poor wood on the rungs that could be spiffed up.

Fantastic job working to change the chicken ordinance! Valiant effort!!! Along with getting over your fear of the circular saw... something I haven't even conquered yet. The hinged roof is a great idea. I know it takes a lot of work to build a coop from scratch, but this one does seem pretty small to house any more than 2 chickens so an upgrade might be inevitable.

Seems like a pretty small space for 5 adult hens... unless they're let out to free-range every single day.

Lovely garden space and super cute coop! Love the old window and solar lanterns. And the use of the closet rod bracket as a roost. The garden gate is adorable! Wish there was more info on the actual build or a link to the YouTube video.
Suggestion: with a small access door like that to the nest area, three separate boxes are not really necessary. One divider would be sufficient, leaving more room for your arm to collect eggs. Hens might even appreciate just a single (no dividers) long and cozy nesting area where they can fluff and arrange bedding to their hearts' content.
I want to see more of this! What a great way to add space to a prefab coop... it's a cute one too. I would really like to see how the run was constructed and attached! And some interior pictures! Needs lots of explanation of what is going on. Three photos doesn't much count for an article.

I'd like to see a lot more details, but I think there's some good design concepts here for someone trying to collect ideas for their own build. I wish this account was still active because I would like to know which nest box was the most popular: upper or lower level.

Of course more details are always appreciated, but this run design seems simple enough to easily replicate. There's not much description and the coop isn't even finished!

The crate was a great foundation, but I think more modifications are needed. If a coop is too dark inside, the chickens will need to get themselves inside for the night pretty early, because if they wait too long they won't be able to see inside and they could get stuck outside for the night.
Also, without enough ventilation especially on hot days, the coop will become so stuffy they won't want to go inside to lay eggs in the nest box and may end up laying elsewhere. Too little ventilation also creates moisture buildup from chickens breathing and body heat, possibly causing respiratory problems.

Attractive exterior design. I really like the ventilation across the top and double door access with original pop door idea. Is this an indoor coop made for smooth floors? Otherwise it would have to be completely enclosed in a secure run to be predator-proof since it doesn't look like that pop hole has a door. And the ledges inside... unclear if they're meant to be nest boxes to roosting bars. Chickens like a little more privacy for their nesting area and the roost should be somewhat higher. A slightly different interior arrangement would be more practical.

The pull-out food and water is the coolest idea ever! What a great way to hang feeders in an awkward spot. Also, it's not mentioned, but it seems like the area above the nest boxes would make a perfect storage area for oyster shell, grit, cleaning tools or whatever.

This probably should have been posted in a forum or member pages to show off your chicken pictures. Nothing helpful or informative at all about the coop.

Good Pictures... Wish we could zoom in closer, but maybe at the time of posting that feature wasn't available. Great descriptions too. Just wish there was a follow-up of the finished coop. Still think there's some good information here on how to start a build though.

Wish the photos were bigger since there's not much writing about your building process. It's hard to tell what's going on here.
