This is a standard hav-a-hart trap with heavy guage wire. Granted, the raccoon was trying to get out, but it shows that YES they CAN rip through chicken wire, small guage hardware cloth, etc. Makes me want to use cattle panels!! : )

Wow, that is amazing. I own a trap that is a lot like it and whodahthunk that! woooweeee- maybe kryptonite bars on the next one!

Seriously it is phenominal, thank you for sharing that picture!
(I have seen coons haul in everything from a 2 foot radious, but never gotten out)

Wow!!

That is insane!! Never woulda guessed that!! The most we ever had was a coon dragging it across the deck! I hope you got it!

My husband built me a trap to stop that from happening. Check out my byc page....

Yeah, blew me away. I work for animal control and a co worker brought this in after she took the raccoon out. All I can say is BEEF UP YOUR RUNS!!

DANG !!!! I have had them thrash around inside one for a long time but never anything like this, I think the country coons are less hostile once trapped, but wow that is something, makes you think twice about the security of your coop/run's.

rule of thumb, N E V E R underestimate a WILD animal, coons, foxes, anything like that, is stronger than you think.

Makes me want to use cattle panels!! : )

coons could fit through those LOL

Thank you so much for this pic it has saved countless chicken lives. one pic tells a thousand words. it doesn't matter that you tell ppl a thousand times to lock them in their coop at night or that chicken wire will not stop a coon. it takes a pic like this. perhaps it will sink in that it does not matter how secure you "think" your run is, close the stinkin door to the coop!!! your coop and run are very secure until they aren't and then you have dead animals.

thank you

Connie
