I've wanted to add a kid-safe horse to our farm for my son to ride, so yesterday we drove 2 hours to look at Sarg - a retired Cincinnati Mounted Police Horse. He's thin and in need of the grazing we have in abundance here, but I'm so excited!! He'll be a wonderful companion to our blind horse, Bobby, and a terrific buddy for my son to ride from time to time. He can live out his remaining days here with all the grass he can eat and daily affection a little boy can give. For his age, he's quite spry and I think will be feeling pretty good with some fattening up.
I'm still thinking of adding 1 more - a Thoroughbred mare that's being retired from Polo. We're going to look at her today. I think this will round out our little herd of horses.
