Hi,
I have some broody ducks who have accidentally cracked a couple eggs. One egg was cracked on day 6. It had a small dent and some cracks around the dent. I sealed it with beeswax and put it in my incubator. It was doing great until today - day 23. Sadly it appears to be dead. Yesterday it was alive, but the only thing I noticed was it appeared slightly smaller than I would expect. I know since it was cracked so early it didn’t have the greatest chance, but I thought it would make it because it was doing so well😭 I will leave it in the incubator for another day or so to be sure that it is dead.

The 2nd egg is from another nest and it just got cracked today. The mama duck broke an egg in the nest, and this one has multiple hairline cracks over about 2/3rds of the egg😬 it also had egg goo on it from the broken egg. I gently cleaned the egg goo off with a slightly damp cotton ball, sealed it with wax, and put it in my incubator. I am concerned that too many of the shell is cracked - and I’m concerned that the 1st egg is going to contaminate this one. Ugh.

For the egg that died I treated it just like my normal duck eggs: cool for 10 minutes a day and mist after day 10. I’m wondering if the misting is not a good idea because of the cracks.
