    The land requirement is just from the original proposal. I’m sure we could offer to increase the req if that would make them more likely to pass it. They already have some kind of requirement for how far the coop needs to be from the property line (in the proposed ordinance).

    The amended ordinance would allow a maximum of 6 with a minimum of 5000 square feet of land, which if you think about it is not very much land. So going to be very easy for nearly everyone in the city to have up to 6 hens. Having less than 6 does not make a difference, 6 is just the maximum...

    I’m assuming the amending of the ordinance which was the main goal to begin with. This would legalize (6) chickens in our city for all zones with a minimum of 5000 square feet, rather than properties with over 5 acres in one specific zone.

    The scales do look inflamed and the lifted scales show early signs of SLM. This article may help. Good job for catching it in the early stages, treatment should be 2-3 weeks and it should clear up soon after that and healthy scales should grow in.

    Nope, I’ve been emailing him and he hasn’t responded. Must be busy. He did respond a few weeks ago and said they are still working on it and it should be done by the end of June, however I don’t see any progress nor has he reported on any progress.

    I’m not sure that it’s a statewide issue, most cities in MA allow for chickens. It’s just a few cities in Western mass that limit or I believe it says poultry or livestock definitely not just chickens.
