7 week old silkie randomly developing slight cross beak

My silkie is about 7 weeks old and I have noticed it’s starting to have slight cross beak. My other silkie from the same hatch is totally fine. I know silkies are more prone to vitamin deficiencies. What can I do to help?

6w old silkie gender based off comb method?

This is the one I suspect is a girl. But I could be totally wrong. Her comb is so much smaller than his though I feel

I don’t either! These are my first two silkies! He sure stands straight up and has since day one lol.

6w old silkie gender based off comb method?

I feel like his started to show much quicker than my suspected girl.

6w old silkie gender based off comb method?

This baby very much gives off roo vibes just based off of the insane straight stand up posture they always seem to have. I have another silkie who’s much smaller, but from the same hatch. She doesn’t stand up near as straight as this guy. What are we thinking based off of the comb?

Is there a such thing as “too much candling”

Oh I definitely won’t be messing with them during lockdown at all. More so meant prior to lockdown within the first two weeks. My same thought was that hens hop off the eggs periodically as well. Thank you!!

Is there a such thing as “too much candling”

This was my same thought process. I’ve seen some people say you’ll disturb the air sacs etc. but broody hens hop up and down and roll them around. Lol

Is there a such thing as “too much candling”

Is there a such thing as candling too often? We are have some eggs incubating and we are on day 6. Just want to know if there’s a such thing as candling too often? I know that you don’t notice a huge difference within a day, but didn’t know if it “hurts” anything to candle more than just once or...

Topic of the Week - Incubating eggs

I’m going to be starting my first hatch process tomorrow after I pick up my last breed of chicken eggs. I’ve had my incubator running since yesterday (nurture right 360) and have a hygrometer/thermometer. Temp is between 99.5-100. Humidity is at about 50-55%. Am I at a good spot number wise for...

Do I need to turn the eggs while they’re on the counter? They’re in a carton.

    Adding eggs after beginning incubation

Hi there! I’m a new chicken mama. A month ago, I bought two silkies, 3 jersey giants and 3 cream legbars. They are all thriving and doing wonderful. I’m jumping on the hatching wagon now as well. Today, I picked up 12 eggs to begin incubating. Some Serama/bantam mixes and some colored layers as...
