Hello,
I don’t know much about this chicken, she may be a Cochin? Her leg had a growth that the previous owner pulled off, and asked me to clean and bandage. That was a few weeks ago, I found her again with the bandage still in her. I can’t tell if I got it all off, if this is new growth or...

Thanks!!
I looked at the bumble foot posts, and I don’t think that’s what she has going on. It was more like an infected scab on her upper leg. I’ve flushed the wound, sprayed it with Blu-kote and re-wrapped it, she is acting normal other than avoiding too much weight on it. I have high hopes...
King Arthur! I may need to steal this and name his descendants after the knights!
We love giving themed names, our biggest rooster is named Zeus, he has 4 wives right now: Hera, Demeter, Matis, and Thalis. There are endless name options for his offspring!
Hello all!!
I am re-introducing myself, as there have been some huge changes in my bird raising life! I also was just notified that it’s my 1 year anniversary!

My brooder just left her chicks to go back to the roost in the coop. She started laying eggs 3 days ago, and I guess she was just done being mom. The babies are about 5 weeks old, I’ve put them on the roost next to her, they don’t love it. It’ll get down to 59 degrees tonight, should I bring...

We bought them just hatched from a local farm and brought them home to be fosters for our broody hens, we don’t have roosters so our hens can’t have their own chicks.
There 3, but on Monday before we could sneak them in to their new moms, I found this one away from the others, barely breathing...
