In my experience you can't tell the males from the females with Polish until you start to see the behaviour. Little Roos will start to rush out where angels fear to tread, and face up to other members of the flock. Little hens stay close to Mum. They all have long tails, at a 45 degree angle to the back, and large head-dresses.
