    Still not laying

Thanks Mrs K, she can stay and entertain us as long as she wants, I'm planning on getting 2 more once I have a chance to extend the run, so egg bounty will go up later this year

She started laying Oct 2022 at around 17 weeks old and laid an egg every single day, with the occasional holiday until Dec 2023 when she...

    Calcium deposit on egg

Hi Perris, maybe you don't recall the Government’s policy of slaughter on suspicion with foot and mouth (at the urging of one professor Neil Fergusson.) It's not a question of privacy (although I must be a conspiracy theorist as I think it is an intrusion) I think it's a real cause for concern...

    Attention UK bird owners

Hi all in UK, did you know the government is changing the bird registration policy? If the current plan goes ahead from 1st October anyone with any number of birds (fowl of any description) will have to register. There was a public consultation with the vast majority wanting to keep the...

    Chickens on strike

Thanks Ridgerunner, they don't free range, they are in a coop with a rambling run which covers quite a bit of the garden, there's no stray eggs in it and no predators, only sheep in the fields next door. I'm curious about the moult (UK spelling) though. This was their first one, and they didn't...
