Pros: Pretty good layers, pretty, good at free ranging
Cons: Flighty
These birds are pretty, lay pretty well, and are great free rangers. I love this breed but boy can they fly (at least the bantams I have can)! These chickens are probably the best at flying that I have ever run across. Mine are also pretty skittish, but that is probably because I didn't have them as day olds and they probably didn't get held that much.

These birds are good and I would recommend them, just keep in mind that the bantams can be flighty.
Pros: Long lasting, easy use, common product
This waterer is awesome! Works great for a small flock and is long lasting. I had mine for three years before I stepped on it (my fault). I would highly recommend these waterers, they are small and great!
Pros: Easy to use, Good for small flocks
Cons: Sawdust gets in water easily
This little waterer is great for small flocks and is easy to use. The only problem is that dirt and stuff can get in the water because it is low to the ground, but that can happen to almost all waterers.
I would recommend getting a few of these as they work great. Also, if the bottom breaks (accidents happen, you might step on it) you can easily replace it as this is a common product as feed stores and stuff.

Pros: Good layers, friendly (the hens), mostly docile, cheaper then most breeds
Cons: Kind of plain, nothing out of the ordinary
Rhode Islands are a very popular breed and aren't pricey at all. This is a good thing although if you are looking for something out of the ordinary, this is not the breed for you. Rhode Islands are one of the most common breeds of chickens and are somewhat, plain in looks with there dark red feathers. They are docile most of the time and are good at laying for the most part. The hens are friendly making them a good starter breed, for beginners.

I hope this short review has helped you in your search for chickens!
Pros: Lay well for about a year, friendly, cheap
Cons: Not good with cold, only lay for about a year
The red Sex-link is a cross between Barred rocks and Rhode island reds. They are common and therefore cheap, making them a good starter bird. They are not cold tolerant so don't get them if you live up north. But other then that they lay pretty well (for about a year) and are very friendly. I don't especially like this because you can't show them (not recognized by the APA) and I have had egg eating problems and stuff, it is up to you. The cons and pros are about 50/50.

Good Luck!

Pros: Good layers, pretty birds, friendly
Cons: Nothing really
Love these birds. Honestly, I think they are perfect for beginners, or anyone really. They are friendly, pretty, and lay a fair amount off eggs. Australorps seem to be a favourite among many chicken lovers. I can see why because they really are awesome birds!

Hope that helps,

Good luck!
Pros: They lay well, the hens are friendly, they make good pets. Also very hardy.
Cons: Roosters are so mean!
Plymouth rocks are good and friendly as long as you only have hens. Roosters are really mean. I would not recommend a Barred rock rooster to anyone but breeders. In all other fields Plymouth rocks are great!

Great al around birds. Roosters are good with kids which is a huge bonus. They lay fairly well and are great mothers!

They are also very pretty!

Pros: Easy to use, gets the job done, Great for beginners.
Cons: Small, expensive.
Its a great little bator', it gets the job done, and its easy to use!! The only thing I don't like is that it can only do seven eggs at a time. Other than that its great!!

Pros: Friendly, Not flighty, Good Layers, Easy to care for
Cons: Roosters are mean
Barred rocks are over all pretty good birds, They are cold hardy and lay well. They are a very common breed, and are easy to maintain.
I would especially recommend these birds to people just beginning with birds because they are so easy to maintain. But roosters can be very mean!

Lohman Brown

Pros: Freindly, not flighty
Cons: Eat there eggs, can get mad
The Lohman Brown is a Hybrid Bird, although friendly most of the time the can be prone to eat there eggs and can have a mean streak.
Seeing as they are not pure bred showing is out of the question.
I would not recommend this bird.
