They need to be kept in a Aviary or Cage. They need to be taken out of their cage at least once a day. They aren't as loud as some birds, but need attention. They live 10-20 years with proper care. You must change out their bedding once a day, give them food once a day, and give them water twice a day. They do well in pairs, and only lay eggs when bred.
As you see, Parakeets need to be kept intertained. They enjoy lots of toys!
