Porcelain d'Uccle Bantam

My experience with the Procelain Duccle is a Joyous one. I have found them to handle well and even be one of the easiest of my flock to scoop up outside the coop. I work with the bantams to make sure they will handle well as they get older. I can definitely say i enjoy their sounds immensely its very unique to the flock.

I have two of these beautiful chickens, a male and a female. I don't get what people mean by the males being unfriendly--both are so sweet! The female hates being held and will run off, but the male is very sweet to us! He acts like a rooster, of course, and bosses the other birds around. I'd recommend these birds as protectors of the flock and ornamental birds.

I’ve got one Porcelain D’Uccle girl. She is quirky and odd but it makes her fun to watch. She can typically be found away from the rest of the group, scratching up dirt to get some treats. For her small size she can reach some of the highest spots in the coop. Bottom of the pecking order but super sweet and top of the list for the family.

My little "Odd Thomas" is beautiful. I've raised him since birth and he can certainly hold his own! He watches over his (Heritage) Hens, warns of danger, calls them to eat, herds them back into the coop at night. His little crow is tiny and weak, like he's in training to be a real rooster when he grows up. When I enter the coop, he goes into ATTACK MODE and jumps on my back then starts to peck my head. Thankfully he is just a little thing, so no damage done. I love my little fella!! <3

I breed and raise d'Uccles, and have had porcelains for about 3 years now. They are very beautiful and can be docile. My rooster isn't aggressive, he usually minds his own business and has never bitten or attacked anyone. They are not super cuddly birds, but this cannot be said for all of them. My mille fleur hens are super sweet and don't mind me handling them. They make great show chickens, don't eat a lot, and are very beautiful.

The Porcelain is a amazing bird and I will always recommend the breed to newbies and experienced chicken owners. They are great foragers and help in garden vary willing, I have read that they like to roost high but mine has never liked heights, they also say they get broody but mine has never been broody. They are good layers with a sweet disposition and corky personality.



About my bird-
The best bird I've have ever owned was a Porcelain named Almond. Almond was a free bee with my order of Japaneses bantams since she was with a bunch or tough breed chicks she was at the bottom of the pecking order to begin with. But when they where in the middle of there "ugly stage" all of the others would beat on her I would come into the coop with them chasing her around or I'd find her hiding under something. So from then on she got special treatment and basically became a pet. Her favorite treat was black oil sun flower seeds and with that I taught her to come to her name. After time (2 years) Almond got her confidence back and made friends with the one of the black Japaneses hens and a buff Japanese roster. Now she dose not take anything kind of bad treatment from any other chicken. Almond was shown at the fair twice and won grand champion feather-footed bantam both years and we also won chicken showman-ship. She was also a community service bird you could say she when to multiple festivals and the kids loved her.

I love my porcelain d'Uccle chick. I just got it two weeks ago along with some others. I have no complaints about them. They are an awesome breed! They are very pretty and cute. I'm not sure if it's a female or male, but either way it is staying. The roosters are gorgeous! I'm hoping for a female so I can watch it hatch and raise baby chicks for me. I'm definitely going to be getting some more, but for now here's a pic. of the one I currently have.

We have had several flocks of my favorite chicken, Porcelain D'uccle.
Very sweet and gentle. I have however had a few experiences with weakness in chicks and ultimately loosing them.
Seems they may be hard to raise?
