Little update on Poppy incase anybody else has this same issue in the future and stumbles across this forum!
We didn't get much advice on any pages so in the end did take her to the vets... she was diagnosed with 'mycoplasma' and prescribed antibiotics.
Symptoms of mycoplasma can cause cold like...
For Perkins I’d recommend getting rouens, khaki campbells or cherryvalleys for a friend. I’ve 2 call ducks and oh boy have they got attitude!! They are such bratty ducks, will bite me and our chickens... parade around the garden constantly quacking at such a high pitch... basically like Daffy...
Hi, we recently adopted a chicken from a local animal sanctuary. They had two hens there but her friend died so I took her home as she was very lonely.
With the winter weather commencing here in the UK, at the sanctuary she was kept in a shed which kept flooding and although she could get up...
Hi! The past week or two my pet runner duck has began limping. It came quite suddenly so we think she maybe fell down the ramp from her bedroom being pushed by her duck sisters.
she is a white runner duck and 5 years old. I heard they live until around 14 years so she’s still quite young.
We’ve...
Aw little cuties! I honestly don't know much about where to get it etc.. but my first thought from reading your post was niacin deficiency so it's most likely worth looking into getting some of that. I'm on a facebook group called 'Ducks r us' and it's been really helpful with info regarding...
Hello!
My duck Valley has recently been struggling with passing her eggs and I really need some advice on what to do for her ... She is a 4 year old (5 on June 2nd) rouen clair duck and i've had her since she was a day old. She usually lays an egg every other day and recently on a few occasions...
Hi all,
Looking for some advice please, at the place I volunteer we have a rather poorly hen and just wondering whether anybody has had a similar issue and knows how to make her better.
The hen is a rescue, and was standing rather upright (at first I thought she was egg bound - but she’s not)...
We handfeed all of our ducks and chickens and have rested these two from eggs so I’m sure this is not the issue. I’ve just taken a video to show you their aggression but byc won’t let the file upload.. is there somewhere I can put it for you to view?
I could try that - we do have a dog, although the chickens and ducks bite her too :hitI think i may give your previous suggestion a go, perhaps rather than going 'ow' i should try going 'shushhhh' or make a hissing sound?
Oh trust me i've tried :( it just seems to anger them more somehow :barniebut I think i might try your previous suggestion, rather than saying 'ow' maybe if i go 'shussshh' at them it maybe different.... maybe :p
Thankyou for your advice :) yes, i do that too, but they'll continue to bite me in my arms :( or as soon as I put them back down will continue. I also try to move their heads away but as there is two of them, they behave a bit like a pack and continue to attack until i move right away. Honestly...
Thankyou for your advice :) yes, when they bite me, it really hurts so I usually shout 'ow', but they behave a bit like a pack, and it doesn't seem to phase them until i walk right away
Hi all,
I'm hoping somebody can give me advice about our aggressive pet duck.
Vienna is a female white call duck, who is now just over 3 years old. She is being incredibly aggressive alongside our other female mallard call duck, who is the same age as Vienna, she is called Dinky. We also have...
Hi All,
Hope this is the right place to post but just wanted to share some advice on what to do if your chicken seems to be struggling to breathe as it took me a while personally to diagnose.
Our chicken, Ethel, is a nutcase! She runs everywhere, is very cuddly but also CRAZY for food... and...
