Another update. One of the hens that I assumed was dead from the raccoon showed up in the neighborhood wandering around. Someone posted a picture of her. My dad and I went and got her.
Hey everyone! I thought I would update you all on a few things here.
First. That darn raccoon managed to get 3 more birds including Tiny. I was devastated to find out he was missing and then find what was left of him due to my mistake. Thankfully the other birds are safe.
I know it was my own...
I went out to make sure all the birds were locked up completely after letting them have supervised free range earlier and somehow I stupidly forgot to make sure our buff orpington hen was inside.
She just passed away a few minutes ago after being attacked by the raccoon :hit
Our dogs scared off...
My dad and I went to the SW humane society to look at the found cats to see if Archie was there. No luck at all.
I did mention to the lady there that Archie has a different forehead to nose shape (instead of a curved L, it's straight down to the nose)
Updates from me.
I'm currently on day 3 of being sick. I'm almost done with it though.
Our cat Archie went missing last week on Tuesday and we've had no luck in finding him. I've posted everywhere online, made a lost pet report with every shelter, and looked around the neighborhood and even...
Took Tiny for another car ride to Dutch Bros.
One of the newer girls working there asked if he could have whipped cream and I told her chickens can't have dairy. She said I was such a good chicken mom after I told her I do lots of research.
.
The main escape artist pullet managed to get out while I was entering the coop. I felt like an idiot for not making sure she was in the yard before I entered.
Now she's running free and she's a hard to catch bird even at bed time.
The work in progress. I ran out of hardware cloth so this is temporary until I can buy more. My dad still has to tear one side down to add more of the yard when he gets back from his trip.
This was just what he managed before he left. I put up the hardware cloth by myself after he left.
.
My dad and I have been re-working the chicken yard again. He tore down everything else yesterday and put most of the new stuff up.
He'll be finishing it when he gets back from his trip.
The flock will be getting to free range again under my supervision along with the dogs.
I'm already planning for spring.
Even though I'm down to 3 Muscovies, I plan on starting over with the duck flock. I'll be buying Muscovy ducklings from some breeders nearby.
I'll be finding more Serama breeders nearby as well so I can get more females once I sort out the males.
Our drake Colonel passed away today.
He was 5 years old.
He's been such a great drake and has fathered so many offspring for us.
He'll be greatly missed
