False, all Legbars regardless of color should have a crest. Adding "Crested" to the name is always redundant. Any Legbar with no crest was either mixed with other breeds to have it bred out of them, or just have poor genes in the first place.
I know it's a long shot, but does anyone in this thread still keep this breed and sell eggs? I recently lost my whole flock of chickens to a large pack of coyotes and I'm trying hard to find various sources for each of the breeds I had, so I can hopefully get them all ordered around the same...
Hello,
I live in Washington state and I'm having trouble finding the information I want in the NPIP requirements document. I am hoping someone knows the answer or how to easily find it;
Do we have to be NPIP certified in Washington state, in order to ship eggs within the state boundary? I...
I have a Cream Legbar rooster who I believe is covering my 2 Welsummer hens.
Both are auto-sexing, but I'm wondering if that would come through in the cross chicks?
I have 4 that hatched, 2 were almost totally yellow, and 2 were dark brown chipmunk. I believe they are what the colors suggest...
Your assumptions are annoying me. You seem determined to misinterpret what I'm saying, so goodbye. I never once mentioned my concern for diseases. Only a concern for untrustworthy people.
Yes, I know all of that. I'm just suspicious of this self proclaimed certified breeder posting about herself refusing to provide the information until after closing a deal, and asking people on facebook IF there MIGHT be a source or a list of breeders.
Breeders know there is a list and where to...
I agree, just red flags at every turn. Asking FB "is there a source I can direct them toward to find my number?" is not something a certified breeder would do.
I would understand a newly certified person, or a dumby, not knowing about the existence of the directory or where to find it, but...
I know!! Me neither but I plan to be by next year. If someone refused to give me that information, I would not buy from them or contact them again. What a terrible sales tactic!
It's public information after all. Forcing potential customers to find the directory and search for their name rather...
EDIT::
Just wanted to also point out, she was asking for where to send people to find her number. Shouldn't you know where to find your own number if you were already /currently certified?
Why would somebody refuse to provide NPIP ID number to potential customers?
I just saw a FB post, a...
I have 4 Barnevelders. After molting, one of them grew these long hair-like things on both sides-- look like maybe the start of saddle feathers? She has had them for several months, no change. She is a bit over 1 year old.
My theory is she had a small illness or injury or sense of...
That's good to know! My incubator heat source took a dive with over 3 dozen eggs inside, most were in maybe a week and every one had the ring. Hopefully some continue to develop.
I came home to a 55-f degree incubator, unsure how long it had been. 2 of 12 developed beilefelders I bought did end...
Thank you, I definitely plan to! The guy I bought them from was selling their chicks $25 a pop no questions asked. So looking forward to bbs chicks, I won't be able to keep my excitement to myself when they start coming 💕
Thank you! I don't think there were any pictures of them in the Craigslist post I found. They are definitely more fabulous than I was expecting. 😁 I absolutely love splash 😍
Just acquired a splash Langshan pair, so excited to put them together with my blacks. Soon I'll have the whole BBS gang! They strike me as a Chuck and Barbara, I believe they are 3 years old. Barbara is rather shy, but the guy said she will brood as long as there are eggs to sit on.
Been...
LOL that's definitely me in the picture :lol: And yes, they come in white, black, blue and splash. I'm so excited to find this splash pair, because splash and black makes blue! Once I'm able to put them together I'll have the whole BBS gang, so exciting!
I just picked up a splash pair from a breeder last night, and they are much larger than my 4 black hens from the feed store. I think the splash hen is almost double the size of the hatchery hens! The rooster stands almost 3ft tall, and I'm only 5'2". It's incredible.
