Hairy Barnevelder?

I have 4 Barnevelders. After molting, one of them grew these long hair-like things on both sides-- look like maybe the start of saddle feathers? She has had them for several months, no change. She is a bit over 1 year old.

My theory is she had a small illness or injury or sense of responsibility that caused the beginning transformation stages of becoming a male? I thought it was strange, anyone seen this before? Couldn't find anything with google search.

I can try to get better pictures today in the sun, I know these aren't the best.

I've seen these after plucking almost every bird I've slaughtered, not that long tho.
