This egg that it came out of was not a delicate shell. It was a good strong egg. So i don’t think it was hers. Unfortunately I did not keep the blob. But I did try to cut it. It seemed more like a bit of membrane wrapped around itself and I did not see the inside. I just sorta didn’t try to hard...
I think it is a lash egg. I just didn’t realize those could happen inside another egg.
Unfortunately I have 5 hens that may have laid that egg. It was either a BO, RIR or BA. One of my Buffs has been laying eggs with very delicate shells
Has anyone ever seen anything like this? It was just a wad of tissue. The egg seemed perfectly normal otherwise. Just curious about it. Haven’t been able to find explanation via search.
I wonder the sam e. But I cannot find any more puss and don’t want to keep digging. I wonder if the epsom soaks will help draw any infection down to this spot. I may try to find the clear iodine today.
i really need to get it cleared up in the next two weeks. I’ll be going out of town for two...
Greetings! I have been treating this case of bumble foot for about a week and this is the second go around with this same spot. Thought we had it sorted with Vet. She had treatment and antibiotics and the first time.
This young lady's name is Dottie. She is a Speckled Sussex less than a year...
Great ideas! I went out and put some of those frozen thingys in my waterers. They all crowded around. Then I put about an inch of cool water in a flower pot tray and they all gathered around. Already have a fan on them and we are working on adding additional shade with “sun sails”.
Good news regarding Hermione! Last night she stayed out in her little private coop with no events. She was able to roost and this morning was her old self. She still has 4 days on the Tylan water. So she gets to keep her private quarters a bit longer.
Meanwhile, the entire flock has been...
I did increase the dosage for my Brahma big girl. And will do so for the Rooster just due to weight. But your point is well taken and I think I could increase dosage for other hens. But some thinking a treatment over 3 days may yield favorable results as well. 🤷🏼♀️
My vet said 1/2 tsp of Tylan powder per gallon. Maybe I could increase it.
Thanks for the dosage on the Safeguard and Pancur. I’ll hold that for future reference.
The dewormer I got has dosage on the bottle, I just can’t figure out how to get the Rooster to take it. He isn’t the cuddly sort...
My vet prescribed Tylan powder for Hermione. She had another scary spell yesterday evening. But was quiet all night and is up moving around, eating and drinking this morning.
This is what we ended up getting. Our feed store was out of the goat safeguard. They did have the ivermectin for horses but I thought that might be complicated.
I am wondering how most of you administer these capsules. I mixed s bit of boiled egg and yogurt with the contents of one tablet and...
Crop was totally empty this morning. She hasn’t done anymore of the gasping since about 3:30 am. She has now had nutridrench and dewormer. She is eating and drinking. But still moving around a bit slow.
the gasping was so scary! We thought she was gone once, eyes closed and limp. My BF kept...
She had another spell during the night that did not last as long as the previous spell and she didn’t appear to be dying as before. She did have a large amount of diarrhea. (And I have a few others with dirty poopy bottoms.) Right now she is out in the sick pen walking around, eating, drinking...
Not good this evening. She had taken a turn for worse and was gasping for breath. i have her some meloxidyl for pain and inflammation. It’s all I had. If she survives the night I will get antibiotics and dewormer. If not, I will send her for necropsy. Gotta know what’s happening!
But for the...
Loads of ventilation, it is a very airy coop built for Texas weather. Just had another one of the flock checked for worms and she came back clear. I’ll double check crop tonight and in morning. But I keep a general eye on crops and I think I would have noticed if she had issue there. I’ll treat...
I’m concerned. Hermione has a strange cough, no discharge or sores that I can see. Comb is nice and red. Eyes are bright, she is eating and laying. Hermione Chicken cough
I have 7 acres, no restrictions. But I have 10 hens and one roo. Enough eggs for 3 people and a few for the neighbors. One of my hens is brooding 8 eggs so we will see what happens. My coop is 10x8 with a large covered run and access to a small fenced orchard. I’m getting a small coop from a...
I didn’t read through all the responses so if someone already said this, disregard! I just found homes for six 4 week old chicks by advertising them on “Next Door” only. I said up front that there could be roosters. There were only 2 that I was fairly certain were pullets. And I was going to...
