Advice for late hatching geese eggs

https://bramblewoodhill.com/incubating-hatching-goose-eggs/ I used this website for hatching my geese and I reference it frequently. This has been the most straight forward advice other than this forum. Your temperatures and days will be different for ducks, I’ve never incubated ducks only...

Advice for late hatching geese eggs

40-50% is a good start but might end up dropping it lower. Try 40-50 with the cooling and misting and candle them frequently to see if they’re on track with their air sacs. If the air sac is too small the humidity needs to go down, if it’s too big then it needs to go up. Also temperature is the...

Advice for late hatching geese eggs

Have you been cooling and misting them daily? (After the 8th day it’s recommended to open the incubator for 10 minutes and spray them, and between days 15-21 for 15 minutes, days 22-25 for 20 minutes, for geese at least). I live in SC and found 55% humidity was way too much. But if the air sacs...

Advice for late hatching geese eggs

I noticed the air sacs being behind about a week before lockdown and dropped the humidity to 35-40. Once lockdown hit I upped the humidity to about 70. I got a flexible flashlight I could candle them with through the incubator during lockdown and the air sac caught up to where it was supposed to...

HELP! Prolapsed naval/unabsorbed yolk in gosling

I’m thinking I leave him in the cup until 3 am, giving him another 12 hours to sit. Then moving him to a separate brooder. I’ve read some people put iodine on it, or neosporin. I’ve been keeping it moist but should I leave it uncovered when moved to the brooder? Should medication be applied...

HELP! Prolapsed naval/unabsorbed yolk in gosling

I’ve posted it in the same album. My main concern is when he strains it bulges. It does seem to look smaller.

HELP! Prolapsed naval/unabsorbed yolk in gosling

I added the video to my gallery. It’s not great quality, the gosling did not want to be held and it’s under the red light. But it looks similar but smaller than the photos in the other thread. This is after keeping him in the cup for 12 hours. In the last second of the video he strains and it...

    Gosling help! Umbilical problem

I have a video but I’m not sure how to upload it. I posted my own thread but thought I’d ask on others as well. Gosling is super active, eyes open, reactive etc. is acting perfectly healthy. I did not assist hatch, and he hatched very enthusiastically. Immediately after he hatched he started...

I currently have a gosling that looks similar to this. Did he get better? If so what did you do?

HELP! Prolapsed naval/unabsorbed yolk in gosling

I hatched this baby last night at 3am (12 hours ago). I noticed as soon as he hatched there was an issue and after doing research I decided to place him in a cup to keep him from flopping around and injuring his naval any further. He’s been in moist paper towels in a cup in the incubator for 12...

Advice for late hatching geese eggs

Update: I purchased a flexible flashlight to candle the eggs inside the incubator. One has internally pipped and is moving around inside, no sounds or rocking yet, and the second one has not internally pipped but I could see some movement. This has definitely calmed my nerves.

Advice for late hatching geese eggs

I’m currently in lockdown with 2 white Chinese geese on day 32. Before I put them in lockdown I noticed their air pockets were a little smaller than I would have liked to see. Now I’m worried they won’t have enough oxygen from their internal pip to their external. So far no visible movement or...

    Goose incubation air sac development

Hi everyone! I’m currently incubating 2 white Chinese geese, and have some concern about their air sac development. I’m incubating them at 100.5 (still air) and at 55% humidity (ranges between 50-60% at times). I marked them on day 10 and 15, but compared to research I’ve done they seem to be...

How do I keep ducks from destroying grass?

I’ve had my ducks for about 6 months now and I’m having a hard time keeping the grass inside their enclosure. I know the water from their pool has a poor effect on the grass, but even areas away from the pool are becoming bare and muddy. I expected there to be some loss/damage to the grass...

Canada goose with angel wing in need of home

Hello! I’m in North Carolina and volunteer at a waterfowl sanctuary that would be happy to take her in. I am willing to drive up to Virginia if that is possible and when time permits. I would be willing to drive farther but my work schedule is hectic. I could probably find another party to...

Hello there, my name is Ritz (yes, like the cracker). I’ve used this site for quite some time to answer many questions I’ve had regarding waterfowl and thought it was about time I became a member. I’ve always loved animals, I started rehabbing snakes a while ago but recently became fascinated by...
