Today I let her feet soak in some warm epsom salt water. she got really stressed and kept panicking but i managed to calm her down with some towels. i put some blu-kote over the potential bumblefoot, and then wrapped it. i stayed outside with her after putting on the wrap for a while, to make...
ah, im sorry that they didnt make it.
on the bright side, if you still want chicks, you get the chance to either
a- try again and go thru the fun process of hatching again
or b- go and buy some bucketlist breeds that youve wanted for a while
:)
depends on how long they've been out. personally, i've had eggs i thought were long gone hatch.
(my story is that i had a broody hen, we let her hatch some eggs, and a few days before hatch day, my grandma accidentally collected my hen's eggs with all the other eggs. we found them far into the...
I gave her a bath to try to soak her feet so I could clean them and get a better look. I took more pictures
Above is the foot that is noticeably bothering her.
Below is pictures I took of her other foot, which also looks a bit suspicious.
Thank you so much for the reply and the links. They are very helpful.
I'll clean her foot and look for an infection, and go from there. I'll update you as I care for her. :)
Hello, I have an orpington hen who is limping on her left foot(left foot being the hurt one) I checked her foot and bottom leg for Scaly Leg and for bumblefoot and any other injuries. I see symptoms of neither. She is still eating and drinking as normal, and she doesn't seem too bothered, so I'm...
ok so the hen was egg bound- she looked like she was gonna poop but didnt, then a couple minutes later layed a membrane only egg (then ate it, bc thats what she does) and now she’s back to herself.
and for the rooster, i will reply back to you again once ive done that. thanks for helping me by...
im more concerned about the hen because she’s not active. the rooster is still active, just has had a lump on his face for the past couple days. he’s acting as normal. but the hen isnt moving, and the way shes standing almost looks like a tom’s strut. shes very lethargic and isnt eating much...
Another super cool thing about pepper, and 2 other chicks we hatched, is they have heterochromia. they get it from their dad. Oreo, the other white ameraucana mix, has it the coolest- hers is split down the middle. Pepper’s is most like his dad’s, where it’s more blotchy, but still beautiful.
A while ago, i decided to try and hatch some chickens from our flock. I let 7 eggs incubate. all of these eggs were mixed with white crested black polish, as that was our only roo. of 7 eggs, 5 hatched. i was so happy about this. we hatched:
2 white ameraucana eggs
1 buff ee egg
1 white silkie...
i have a polish rooster (his name is louis) who’s tail is dissapearing rapidly because of 2 of my hens. he’s not molting, because it’s just his tail. the rest of his feathers are big and full. he has lost most his sickle feathers.
i’ve picked him up and looked at it, its tender and i can tell...
hi, i have 3 adult girls who lay brown eggs, and one pullet who will lay light brown eggs (golden comet and polish cross that i hatched). my pullet hit the 3 month mark on june 20th. my three adult girls lay every day, and about a week ago we got 4 brown eggs, and one was pretty wonky (i dont...
here’s my girl Link being silly
and here’s my girl Jesus- this picture is funny because she was being mean to Link (kicked her out the nesting box(loudly)) and then looked at me like “arent i so cute?”
love them so much
luckily, my baby is just under two months, so eligible!!
here she is- frog, my polish/silkie mix chick. <3
(silly frog)
here’s frog as a little, little baby
definitely the cutest chick ive ever had. <3
hi, i have a polish rooster that i think has heterochromia, if chickens can have heterochromia.
here he is- his name is louis
it’s a bit hard to capture on camera- i’ll catch him and take a better picture if anyone wants one.
anyways, i recently bred him with some of my hens (ameraucanas)...
