Noticed these bumps on my girls this AM. All three have them on their combs and primarily their wattles. Any idea of what it is and should I be concerned?
Thanks
Hey!
My RIR has been laying this slightly deformed type of egg for about a week. The shell has an opening, but the contents of the egg remain intact. She’s not pecking at it. Any idea of what could be causing this?
Thanks!
They free range for the most part. No secret nest that we’ve found. Didn’t know about the butt check, can try tomorrow. We only have 3 chicks. The two that we know lay, lay in the nesting boxes in the coop.
Attached are both my BRs. They’re roosting right now so I can’t tell which one is the one laying. The only way I can tell is because she’s the only BR that squats.
Both:
Winona:
Talulah:
I have 3 chickens - all 6mon old.
My RIR and other Barred Rock have laid daily since 4mon. This Barred Rock hasn’t laid an egg yet. Any ideas why?
Thanks!
Hey!
I’ve never had Wyandottes before. They have a much more prominent comb than any other chick I’ve had at this age. Do these chicks look like hens or roos? Thanks!!
Hey!
Got 4 new chicks today (2 Wyandotte and 2 RIR). After about 24hrs, to settle from being new, are they ok to integrate to my 3 week flock currently in the brooder?
Thanks!
I’ll give it another week then. Thanks for the advice. My introduction flock has been hand raised so they’re pretty confident in general. (2 barred rock, 1 RIR, and 1 who knows what lol).
We’re having a hard time introducing 4 others to her specifically. They’ve been in a see don’t touch coop/run for a week, but the last two times we did supervised interactions she was unkind to say the least.
Thank you!!
Thank you!!
This is Maisy, she’s a 9 week old Isa Brown. This is my first time with chicks/chickens. She has a much more aggressive personality than her siblings. However, she looks pretty dang similar to them.
Any thoughts that she could actually be a rooster?
Thanks!
My 5 week old Cream Legbar has had mucus stools the last 24hrs. Eating, drinking, and foraging like usual. No others in the flock with this stool. Any ideas?
Thanks!
I have two different flocks at this point. 5 chicks that free range most of the day and are in a coop that accommodates 6 chicks at night.
My other flock is 4 chicks. These chicks will free range during the day once they are big enough. Is it ok to set up another 6 chick coop or do I need to...
For those following along the names we went with:
#1 - Cali - bravest so far
#2 - Stevie - very dependent on Winona lol
#3 - Talulah - loves some people snuggles
#4 - Winona - puts up with Stevie being needy lol
The front one has developed into what we this is a Leghorn (Dolly) and the back one is looking a lot like our existing Isa Browns (Charlie).
This is them in their teen phase lol
Dolly - she’s probably the tiniest in this flock, but she’s a confident gal, generally leading the charge on...
