I don't mean to piggy back on this thread, but I think I've got a special little guy and need advice. He gets lost easily and stands still and hollers for his mini flock. They don't always come to his rescue. They are 7 week old bantams. What can I do to keep him safe? Run? RN he is "free...
I've got a few boys here I'd be into rehoming. We got two straight run bantams batches this spring. Extra boys here if anyone likes the bantams. Old English and buff brahmas(guessing). The OEGbantams are around 6 weeks and the BBbantams are around 3 weeks.
I've got one girl doing the same thing. I'm not sure which one, but they were all using the box and now I've got one who puts her egg at the front steps or at my front door. It's a mystery to me.
I've gotten birds marked as "pullets" and still ended up with a roo. Unless they are sexlink birds, I wouldn't count on the hatchery sexing them at 100% accuracy. I was told by a girl, 80-90% is more likely.
The OEGB clutch has become 3 boys and 3 girls according to my eyes. Only just coming 5 weeks but the combs are so obvious plus the behaviors.
Hubby got a second clutch of straight run. These are looking like maybe buff brahmas bantams? I tried looking around here and Google to identify breed...
Thank you! I was wondering if they can withhold until they find the choice spot and if some lay later on in the day- but you scienced it right out for me! I appreciate that and am always surprised with how nature works.
Can we talk about private... I'll try to send pic of layout. I'm wondering if that's the issue. Would you recommend curtains or something like that?
I have a hard time leaving them locked in unless it's bad weather. They call to my heart 😭 ❤️ 😂
Wondering if anyone else has this issue, has solved this issue... My birds free range daily, starting around lunchtime. Before that, they are in a coop/run. If I let my girls out at lunch time, I might not get all my eggs. I've noticed them going under my shed to lay eggs, going behind a box on...
RIP ee chick. Sad morning here. Lost a baby last night. Pasty butt on night one, cleaned it, dried it, night two, lethargic. Tried yolk, tried sugar water. Sadly, we couldn't save this little one.
