I may have inherited a partially blind chicken.
She practically puts her face on the ground to hunt for food. She stays close to her “sister”
The breeder offered a replacement but she’s so sweet I rather just love her.
Anyways, what are some “special needs” chicken things I need to take care of?

I used to have a blind chicken!!! Make sure her food and water are always in the same spot, watch for signs of bullying. Just make sure she eats enough and she should be fine!
Thanks! Her sister does a great job staying close. I also pick her up and move her around if she gets too lost.
I’m trying to get her use to the coop now. Last night I put her on the perch but my husband had to get her down this morning. So tonight I just put her inside the coop on the ground. Hoping she will be more comfortable there

Awww, what a sweetie!

I have a special needs chicken who struggled to get onto the roost (pendulous crop and lost one foot to frostbite this last winter) so I make sure there’s a cozy spot on the ground level that she can access. Other than that, I agree with the previous comment to make sure she gets enough food!

I don't mean to piggy back on this thread, but I think I've got a special little guy and need advice. He gets lost easily and stands still and hollers for his mini flock. They don't always come to his rescue. They are 7 week old bantams. What can I do to keep him safe? Run? RN he is "free ranging" with his peeple. But it's clearly not safe for him. Any ideas? I've never encountered this
