Wow. Your boys are maturing fast. My 7 week olds don’t have any signs. Normally I can’t guess until around 8 weeks and feel more confident at 10-12 weeks

Sprinkles looks like she’s re-evaluating her decision to go broody.

    Spitzhaubens

With my Easter hatch coming soon, I've been hoping for a broody to adopt. A very unlikely candidate started hanging out in the nest box for a few days and is now grumbling at me. It's my golden Spitzhauben, Sprinkles. A very unlikely broody breed - unless they live at @homeschoolin momma 's...

I had a similar issue with Spitz chick - indirectly from Cackle. She was otherwise healthy. I've also had a few Spitz hens with very large spurs.

Here's Sprinkles - my curious pullet. She puts her beak into everything! She came from Cackle. Spotted her in a bin marked rare poultry at Farm and Fleet. I knew right away she was a golden Spitz. She was an impulse buy that I don't regret.

I agree that the feathering of #3 is better but not sure what his comb is doing. I like the face of #1. Of course temperament is most important. If any are jerks /aggressive, then don't bother adding that to your flock. I'd love to see the crowing video when you get one.

You piqued my curiosity. I had to go to eBay to check out the pretty chickens. ..... So how many others did the same thing? I love our 3 pet Spitzhaubens. They have beautiful personalities- not as high scoring in the appearance category. Oh well.

    Spitzhaubens

Our son brought our 2 spoiled Spitzhaubens to the county poultry show. DS told the judge all about the breed and the many tricks his hen could do. He should not have mentioned that they are not an APA breed YET. He explained that they are rare in the US but are recognized in Europe. The...
