I got a British SOP and it has Spitzhaubens in it! Instead of paintings like the APA's, it has real pictures. I don't know if they are pictures of good birds though. They look a little scrappy to me.

Very cute! Are you sure it's a pure Spitz though? His legs aren't green or slate, and he doesn't have the big nostrils or a crest.

Thanks for the great answer! I wish I could have all your Spitz! They look beautiful. With the heat, I should probably wait until autumn for shipping?

Oh, don't tempt me! My neighbors are in Texas right now, they could bring me one. Do the Greenfire Spitz have nice crests? Crest shape is very important to me. Also, how is Greenfire's shipping?

I got mine from Cackle, but I'd like some from a good breeder.

    Spitzhaubens

Anyone have Spitz from Green Fire? Are they good quality? I should hope they are for that price. Also, is there a Gold Spangled breeder who will ship eggs or chicks? My poor little gold cockerel died, and both of my silver cocks are big, mean, and ugly. All I want is a good quality roo.

    Spitzhaubens

He's been getting two private meals a day. At night he is in the chick hutch (in the big chicken coop, but separated) with a pair of polish bantams, an OEGB cockerel, and the three spitz pullets. During the day he and his group get to free-range with the other birds. I don't really think he is...

    Spitzhaubens

At first, I thought he was getting chased away from the feeder, so every day I separated and fed him. He gets 2+ duck eggs daily and corn and unlimited crumbles. He loves the eggs. His group has been out with the big chickens during the day for about a week. He might look slightly better, but...

    Spitzhaubens

My three little gold spangled pullets are doing very well. They are happy, healthy, and active. The little cockerel, on the other hand, is droopy, thin, sluggish, his comb and wattles are pale, and he's gaunt. When I pick him up, he feels like he's starving, his keel sticks out and, unless he...

Beautiful! How do the genetics work? You have a a Gold Spangled roo and a Chamois roo over Chamois hens and that gives you chicks of both colors?

They're a great breed! Very friendly, contrary to what you read about them.
