Lol. Not a lot really. The ducks have really torn it up and it's been nothing but snow, followed by rain. So the ducks can make even MORE messes. The orps have a good amount of grass in their pasture. Its just naked around their coop. I really want to put some edging around the coops and then...
Occasionally and usually from the confused pullets to stubborn to turn it off. Although my hen was giving me one every few days until the recent subzero stupid cold weather we are having.
You definitely have one male. The other is still up in the air. You could still have a pair. It could be an early developing female who's dropped her wattles a little. Spitzies can sometimes be tricky. Kinda like silkies, but not THAT bad. I'll cross my fingers and hope it is a she!
I'm leaning male for both. Wattles aren't huge, but they are slow growing on this breed. For me, any type of red wattle drop growth at the 8-12 week age range indicates male. Saddle feathers start between 14 -16 weeks, so too soon for those. I hope you have at least a pair, I've been wrong before.
9 weeks? I'm leaning towards a pair. The one with the pointer crest has some red wattles dropping down farther than the other. Spitzies are trickier to sex. Repost another set of pictures in two weeks to make sure.
The spitz you are seeing are mine. @Faraday40 just hatched out a bunch of my eggs, plus I gave a few extras from my hatch. The boys are coming back to replace my roo I had to put down two weeks ago.
Hopefully next year, I can send out some eggs. But these birds are descendents from Cackle...
I think 1 or 2 are probably the best possibilities plus your guy. I don't think 2 is so bad, his crest goes straight forward. It also might come down to combs. I got rid of my now gone roos brother because he had a small sprig on one of the horns. His only fault. He was just as gorgeous as his...
The spitz from Cackle are a hit and miss. Last year I got some and they grew out gorgeous. This year, not so much. But I'm at least getting fairly decent babies from the last years. I just had to put down the rooster yesterday due to severe aggression, so I hope his son's look as good as he...
At 9 weeks, those big red wattles.
If you look at @Faraday40 pictures on the last page, you can see that her male (also about 9 weeks) has clear wattles while his sisters pink, yellow, and green have none right now. Spitzies are one of the harder breeds to sex...usually it's around 10-12 weeks...
