    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

You and I have similar interests. In college, I majored in Illustration and Photography. I've owned Canons - Nikons were too expensive when I got into Photography. I haven't done much with photography since the digital age - have never been able to afford the camera. I loved working in the...

Me neither. Well, to be honest, Drama was a last minute choice. The gal at Reber said Brahma's were cool looking birds - so, knowing nothing, she went home with me. I didn't know she was going to have feathers on her feet when I bought her. But then - what can I say - I now have Blackie -...

I hear ya! Drama's feet feathers are OK - but, being white, they are always muddy looking. I don't even think washing them would clean them. They appear to be permanently stained a light shade of brown.

Blackie broke the wound open last night. She may have gotten scared being in the house in a kennel by herself. Her little kennel house is back outside inside the PVC tractor and she seems to be content right now. We superglued again this morning. I don't know if it will heal correctly now...

I've never heard of that. Can people use egg membranes to stop blood? That would be pretty nice - considering we chicken people seem to have a steady supply.

Oh, I'm sorry. If it's a bad wound - it looks like super glue works wonders!

I can't find the chick chair in a teacup that I used for reference when making Drama's chair. Here's the link for Drama's chair. A "chick" chair would just be a smaller version. Basically, it is two leg holes and a second square piece pinned over the top to keep her from flapping her wings...

OK. This was kind of what I was looking for. This chick chair was made out of a sponge. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/672981/splayed-leg

Someone mentions using a rubberband... supposedly helps the chick to walk better. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/41693/spraddle-leg-splay-leg-treatment-instructions#post_3548895

Can I just say that Blackie is the sweetest little girl! And my husband is amazing with his gentle handling of the girls. Her comb is super glued and DH is snuggling with his shoulder buddy right now! :) THANK YOU for your help!

Well, the day isn't all bad. My now-fully-fenced asparagus bed is growing. Seems it managed to survive being the girl's favorite place to dust bathe. I lost some of the initial shoots to the girls, but I hope the rest will be OK. It was old enough to harvest some of it this year, but I think...
