Hi everyone!
I have broody that is sitting on 6 eggs, 3 have hatched over the course from yesterday morning until now and one is zipping.
If I counted right today is day 22. There are two eggs left which I candled, they are definitely alive but haven't even pipped internally yet...
I...
I’ve been looking online trying to figure out who how i should put my humidity in the incubator for when they hatch. It always seems to vary from 60%-70%. So I wanted to come straight to the experts and ask you guys what percentage of humidity you’ve had more luck with.
My eggs arrived a week ago and almost all of them had detached air cells 😢. I’ll be candling them for the second time (first when they started incubating) around day ten to see if they have any life.
I initially tried to keep the worst four, more upright when turning, in a separate incubator...
Out of 17 quail that went into lockdown, 11 have piped. The first one piped 24 hours ago now and has made no progress- multiple others are right along that time-frame and the same thing.. is this normal?? I can hear chirps, but not seeing a ton of movement from the eggs.. I'm really starting to...
I had a hen become broody and she ended up collecting 12 eggs. When I discovered where she was and she was definitely broody, I did candling and we were going to have 10 babies. Well, yesterday they all decided to hatch. One of her eggs pipped but has not zipped or made any improvement since...
Hi, this is my first post here but I was candling my Australorp eggs today and I noticed two distinct spots on one of the eggs. They're both moving and seem fine for now but I know the chances of survival are slim. The egg isn't any bigger than the other eggs so I don't think it's a double yolk...
Hello again fellow chicken lovers!
okay, so I think I have a fertile egg, since I witnessed one of my hens mating with my young roo yesterday.
I believe the egg to the far right is fertile…?
So my first duckling has pipped internally and kept trying to do it in the wrong spot so I gave her a safety hole. After 18 hours of no change I widened it so I can get a better look of what’s going on inside. I only ever opened the incubator in the bathroom with the hot all the way on getting...
Hello all! In the past 19 days I’ve been incubating my first batch of duck eggs 6 khaki Campbell eggs that were shipped to me. They can in as decent condition as you can expect. Unfortunately they did have large saddle air cells so I kept the humidity higher to keep them from getting bigger. Now...
Hi, there! My family and I are thinking about hatching our own chickies! But the question is, how?
We already have a Brinsea incubator (and the option to let our hens hatch them in a separate little coop area) and some chick starter. What else do I need? Should I hatch them or would it be...
Hi, I was trying to move my broody hen off of her eggs because she stole some I didn't want to hatch. In the process, she knocked one out of the nesting box, and just the shell cracked.
The eggs are just a few days away from hatching, and I want to save the egg if possible, but I don't know...
I am afraid that my friend opened the duck egg too early and it is the last survivor after an incubator meltdown. It had not internally pipped yet and the membrane isn’t dry. However, it seems unresponsive and the veins have become less prominent and are fading. Is the poor baby dead? The most...
Hi, everyone. I was hoping you could help me with a duck egg I've been looking after for just over the past week. I've been getting help and advice from a few people who have some experience with hatching eggs. They've aided me tremendously, but they're not always able to reply on short notice...
Hello I am the proud owner of two lovely serama hens. We have decided to expand our flock this season and with one of our hens determined to be a mother so we have about half of the eggs covered our other hen however is not very broody and I’m afraid she will leave the nest.
To have a backup for...
I have 2 eggs from a batch of 6 which were a long time in the post and took a week to get to me. Right now these 2 are developing and wriggling but air cells come from the fat end of the egg right down one side. I am wondering which is the best way to position them for hatching?
Hey guys, I just found this great forum and had to sign up immediately. I am currently trying to hatch some eggs with absolutely no luck. I’ve done pigeons before. We own a lot of pigeons but chickens isn’t as easy as I thought it would be. The pigeons weren’t very easy either! So I had built my...

I have duck eggs that are scheduled to hatch in the next 2 days. Today I went out and there was a peck hole on the outside. The duckling is still moving, but doesn’t appear to have pipped the inner air sack.
should I prepare my kids for a dead duck? Or do you think it will live? It’s hard to...
So 2 months ago my mini bantam hen started a clutch and she had been sitting on them for over a month and they never hatched- but recently she started a new clutch of 7 eggs and i’m concerned if they will result in the same outcome as the previous hatch. Is there something i should do or am...
