Hey my polish hen (1y/o). Has been limping for a while and we noticed her leg at the joint was swollen. We’ve been trying to keep her comfortable to heal but recently we noticed a growth/bump on the same leg but not by the joint. She doesn’t have this bump on her other leg.
Any ideas what it is?
Hi so this morning when I let my chickens out I noticed my one hen fluffy was still inside, it's not too unusual so I went in to het her out and about when I noticed she was limping. She went outside on her own still so I went out to watch her and she was limping and going easy on her right leg...
I just came on to seek advice and vent. I got Hops, my banatm rooster, in October as a rescue. I do not know his history. He's probably young. A bit over a week ago, he started dragging a leg. I took him in to get x-rays, and there was no sign of any injury or cancer. The first couple days I...
Hi! I have an EE who is two years old. A couple of weeks ago, she had been pecked by the other chickens. We separated her and she was healing well. But, then she started limping. It was a weird limp, too. Her left foot with her toes curled. Soon she started dragging it. Now, she can't really...
Hey everyone. This is my first real post and I’m a new duck momma, so please excuse my ignorance 🙂. Our duck pen is currently awaiting some renovations to add more chicken wire and predator proofing so that they can be safe at night, so our 2 ducks temporarily go in their pen during the day, and...
I’ve posted about this chicken before, here’s the last one for reference: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/could-use-some-more-help-with-ongoing-bumble-foot-issues.1490334/#post-24852871
Her bumble foot infection is gone, I was able to pull the plug out and heal it. But she still has a...
Hello, My rooster (Oreo) has been limping and stepping on his middle toe of his right foot. I've also noticed that he just lays down and when I pick him up and put him down he just looks like he is passed out. He has been left alone by our hens except our oldest hen (little peep). He laid down...
One of my Polish hens started walking funny the other day and I noticed the pad of her foot was bigger than the other.
Since then she has a bad limp, there’s a bump on the bottom of her foot that’s pinkish and now her leg is starting to swell and it’s all warm.
I thought it might be bumblefoot...
Hi, all, I posted in the emergency forum the other day but didn't get any takers. So I'm trying here since this issue has returned.
On Tuesday morning, my one goose (who we call a she, but we don't know for sure) wasn't very reactive/energetic to me when the two of them always come greet us...
Hello all,
I have a young gander and 4 young hens that all wander around my property under mild supervision during the day. My gander developed a slight limp about 4 days ago, and one of my hens developed a limp 2 days ago. My gander is now limping very noticeably, the hen not so much. I...
I have a quail named Clementine, she loves to squeeze behind things when she's nervous, although it usually backfires for her. she has a very natural coop filled with logs, rocks, plants, etc. I went to visit her today and couldn't spot her, then my brother told me she was behind her rocks. the...
Our little 5 week old Polish, Dumpling, started limping yesterday afternoon. She holds her right leg up a bit and and doesn't put weight on it. She is still eating and drinking fine, and getting around pretty well. We've put her on rest, in her brooder with her one friend and gave her some...
I have two drakes and yesterday on of them started limping badly but there was no injury that I could see and so I thought I would let it go for a day or so and see if it gets worse or better etc before treating him. This morning I come out to let them out and he is dead. Laying there with...
Hi all,
I received 4 lavender orpington chicks from Meyer Hatchery the first week of February. All 15 chicks arrived healthy and were doing well until I noticed one was not growing as fast as the others. She is now about half the size of the rest and sort of hobbles when she walks, almost like...
My 9 month old gander began limping on March 2, I didn’t think much of it because he got into a squabble with one of the other boys and I figured he just needed resting.
His limp progressed, his left hock was slightly inflamed after a few days and I noticed he was losing weight so I thought he...
It’s been in the freezing temps the last few days and I checked on my coop this evening around 4 and my rooster was laying down on his side with his head down. I brought him inside and used warm towels to heat him up. His energy level has not improved. I dipped his beak in water that had added...
Hi!
I have a 36 hours old silver ameraucana chick that limp since his birth. I noticed that despite being able to stand static normally, when he walks, his left wrist is positioned as if he was walking on high heel. He walks, runs, feed, scratch normally. What could it be? Is there anything I...
Hi, I’m hoping someone can offer some helpful insights regarding our duck, aptly named Ducky. Ducky is a five month old male Pekin with a bum leg. We aren’t sure if his leg was injured at some point or if it’s a deformity, but he has walked with a considerable limp since we got him at...
I have a 10 month old Pekin who has developed a nasty limp on her right leg a week ago.
I inspected for cuts or bumble -foot and didn't find evidence of either. I dose all my ducks with niacin supplements while they're growing and currently as they are on a chicken/mixed flock layer feed. Her...
