Hi there! Fairly new to this forum. Posted once already a couple weeks back freaking out about our new hens (as this is a new endeavor for us). I got a lot of great advice - the best being to just "relax and calm down". LOL.
Our hens are 4wks now and still in a very extended "condo-plex" as we...
Hello, I have a lot of plants around my ducks’ pen and they absolutely love laying in them and nibbling on them. They love eating the geranium flowers I have planted. They also love to lay in the fern and merigolds planted their. Are these plants safe for them?
I read through a few threads about plants in chicken yards, and I guess I'm not ready to accept defeat. We have an acre fenced, and several generations pecking the entirety now. We've sold a few roosters each generation, and a couple hems here and there. But, the resulting flock is one we love...
Hello!
Does anyone know if weeping cherry trees are safe for domestic waterfowl consumption?
I want to get my mom a couple weeping cherries for mother’s day but not if it would harm the birds.
Thanks!
Good day!
Hope you all are doing well.
I was wondering if there is any plant that I could plant in the run that my chickens won't eat :fl
I would love to have some green there :)
Do you have any ideas? Do anyone have plants in the run? Would love to see some pictures
Thanks!

Hi... I’m Carol, I have 9 hens (various breeds), 1 rooster, all raised together. They are free range. I’m also an avid gardener, however my new chickens (last year) ate ALL my lemon verbena and Hydrangeas which I care for very much! I haven’t planted my veggies and herbs this year (obviously...
A few months ago I heard of a study done with plants and music. The plants reacted differently to each type of music: Rock: growing away from the speaker, Classical: growing towards the speaker.
I tried it with my favorite Aurocana Chicken. Whenever I play classical music the chicken sat calmly...
I know lots of folks have extra seeds sitting around and might be intetested in swapping seeds, bulbs, roots or whatever for gardening.
All BYC rules apply, they will not be responsible for swaps not completed. The person shipping is responsible for postage unless otherwise agreed by the...
Ok, I'm not quite sure if this was the place to post this or not, but I did a search and found one great but relatively nonspecific thread. So I'm starting this one to get opinions and experience from those who have gone before. I've learned a lot from my chu: English ivy and azaleas are not...
