Gumball was relaxing in the coop, while Cupcake was in the Chook Feast Store(aka the dining room) while some of the others were just chilling. Laksmi the Houdan was pretty much messing with Copper while he was tidbitting his little hens. Ponyo(aka Copper's GF) was with the other hens, while some...
Good Morning BYC! We rolled the dice and got 4 silkie chicks this year...and now it is looking like only 1 is a pullet. It is still early - they could surprise me. I did a separate post and had some input from the community about them.
So, the question is....how many pullets per roo is...
Hi everyone, my buff Orpington is about 5 week old, and I am having some concerns about the sex. When I first got him/her I had a feeling that it may be a rooster but I thought it was just my nerves. Where I live, roosters are prohibited so I would like to know what he/she is ASAP so I can find...
Hey guys! This is my 4 week old Buff Brahma Bantam chick. Is it too early to tell if it’s a hen or roo? Different behavior from my other chicks makes me suspicious, but I know behavior isn’t a good indicator. What do you guys think?
Hello friends! I have two 6-week old SS and I know it’s early, but if anyone has a screaming answer for me I’m dying to know if my SS “Rosemary” is actually a “Roger.” Her comb is much bigger and more pink than her sister. However, I have read that this breed typically has large red combs in...
Not for culling/meat please!
All I want for my rooster boys is a nice safe home where they have a coop and run or space to roam. Won't attack people and have some free range experience. They go to bed in a coop with run at night. Born May last year.
Mixed breed! Some have cheek fluff and...
My 2 year old Rhode Island Red rooster has suddenly fallen incredibly ill. Just four days ago I noticed he was laying beside the coop, a behavior I believed was okay seeing as he would still get up and move, it just seemed as if he was slightly lethargic. Overtime his conditioned worsened, even...
Can you help me work out if this is a pullet or roo? It’s 12 weeks old, has started getting slight red patches on the face, and loves to chest bump the other chickens.
Hey all! So I know this is a sapphire gem but I’m not sure if it’s a Roo or hen. I was thinking hen but then I noticed the red comb and wattles...what are your guesses? Thank you for all your help! 😆 He/she is about two-three months old
Hi,
I have a Plymouth rock chicken. I thinks he’s a rooster but he’s not crowing like the others and he’s much calmer and is never involved in any of the pecking. I know some hens of this breed have combs and wattles so I’m unsure.
What do you think?
I have Mary (the black and white) and Winifred (brown and grey). I’m suspecting Mary a bit more, three comb, and she/he’s been a bit more aggressive toward our main hen. But the more I look at Winni I feel like her tail feathers look a bit more roostery. I haven’t had Chickens in a long time...
Hello
In a previous post I made, I described the symptoms of our Polish Roo (about a year and a half old). For months, he has been very lethargic and his comb has been pale for some time now. We lost a cockerel about a month or two ago and he showed similar symptoms; he was the last bird we...
Is the egg that the red arrow is pointing to, a Silkie egg? It’s rather small, compared to the others. It would have come from one of these two chickens. I don’t know the sex of either one. I’m pretty sure naked neck is a roo because I’ve seen him crow. But then again, I’ve read on here that...
I have 2. They are my babies and i hate to have to rehome them but they are waaaaay too noisy and are starting to get territorial towards my other chickens. They are attached, we call them twins because they do everything together and for that reason im hoping to find them a home that can take...
So I have 1 Black Jersey Giant Roo and 8 hens. I have had them for about 2 years and got a few chicks from them but never one like this one. He’s 7 months old now and he’s black and white. I thought it was so strange because all of mine are fully black and any chicks before him had white when...
Hi everyone!
I have a 5 week old Wyandotte and am not sure what sex it is. It is pretty and friendly but it's comb has just started turning pink. Does that mean it's a roo or is it still too early to tell?
Thanks!!
