Should I isolate? Need advice please!

I need help/advice on how to proceed with my young flock pertaining to the roosters in particular. I have a minimum of 2 roosters out of 16 chicks.... but I suspect another couple could turn into roosters as well. The chicks are 6-7 weeks, and an assortment of breeds - so some are...

Where can I send my roosters?

Hello, I have some young roosters that I don't want them to become part of the dinner table. Is there a place in the bay area where they will take the roosters and give them a good life? Thanks!

My rooster hurt one of his hens...

will he hurt more? He's just being his rooster self, and being too rough with his attentions. I've isolated the injured hen - he bloodied her head and I was afraid the 4 other hens would peck her to death. She's fine, but vulnerable. Should we just get rid of him if he does this again...

    Howdy, semi newbie here.

My hubby keeps bringing chicks home (I'm open to it)! 6 chicks moved in from TS 2 weeks ago, not positive how old they actually are. We lost one :( They're growing fast, hopping/flying out of their crate onto the ledge. Found some poop on the wall, how'd they do that? The brood is/ is in our...

Hello, everyone! Which breeds of roosters may I use in a mixed flock of hens? I want 5 roosters of a breed that don't go broody, are excellent layers and have a friendly temperament. I am going to buy red sex links (white tail), white leghorns, blue sex links, black sex links, white rumpless...

    My rooster’s ‘favorite’ hen died

My rooster, hades, had been lonely after his brother left him to go with all of my other chickens. I had tried to get them together but it didn’t work. I took out a gentle hen who was a golden laced wyodnette hen. The two bonded and he never mated with another hen and took extremely good care of...

Introducing a 2.5 year old hen to a young rooster

Hello, I have been on this site before, as we had a rooster adopt us, we built him a beautiful coop and try to keep him company, but I feel that I cannot give him the attention he needs. He has been in his new coop two weeks, and has not made any attempt to explore outside. I don't know how...

Why is my rooster beating my hens up?

We had a fox attack a couple nights ago and luckily all my hens survived, but just in case we repaired all the fences and nearly doubled their height (we think he jumped over). We had also heard that cockerels can also protect the hens so we thought it best to get one. We’ve had him two days now...
