Those greedy, selfish birds. I've started calling out to the blue jay that hangs around my place. I call him Cheeky for the egg incidents.

Are you aware that Blue Jays can mimic other birds?

Among others, they did an admirable job of mimicking my guinea hens and their "buckwheat" calls.

I've heard some weird sounds out of this one. Not quite jay, not quite quail. Maybe he's trying to imitate the quail?
