Hi!
I've been raising chickens for forever now and a couple of years ago about 2020ish New Castle struck and killed 3 birds in my flock....just last week on THANKSGIVING DAY my 1 and a half year old Rhode Island Red died with similar symptoms. She was sick 4 days before she died but she wasn't that sick....walking around, eating, however she did have diarreah for months....I think she died of New Castle .......

What about your chickens? any sickness?

Welcome To BYC

I'm sorry to hear about your hen.

In 2020 did you have testing to confirm Newcastle disease?

Newcastle Disease is a very serious viral respiratory disease, it's reportable in the U.S.

Did your hen have respiratory symptoms?

There are many respiratory diseases that can have similar symptoms to Newcastle. If you lose another, it would be a very good idea to send the body to your state lab for testing to see what you are dealing with.

You can find your state lab here:
