here are two admittedly bad (my apologies) photos of my one year old buff orpington next to my 6 month old speckled sussexs. she is very small and hasnt grown much, she is perfectly healthy otherwise but i do worry. is this something i should worry about?

Assuming she has free access to food and the same kind as the Sussexs, then there isn't much you can do. She is just smaller. I have one large Orpington I got locally 2 years ago and three from Rural King that are almost a year old and significantly smaller. As long as they are healthy, there isn't much more you can do.

I think it just depends on their genetics. We have a BO that is monster godzilla size, has an enormous appetite but is not fat. Just a large bird. Lays fantastic eggs, very reliable. We have another BO pullet that is small for her age. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you since she's healthy.
