16th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

Our eggs can be SensorPush buddies! I think you're the first person besides myself I've ever seen use one.
Yeah, I was really curious if others had used them or not. I have a handful around the property, so it was an easy decision to pick up another one for the incubator. It's been really helpful so far as when I was doing my test setup while waiting for the eggs to arrive, I was able to see that the temp reading of the NR 360 was 1.5 degrees too low. When the incubator was dry, the humidity reading it gave was also way off. A couple days before the eggs arrived, I added water to the NR 360. The temp reading it gave still stayed that 1.5 degrees off, but the interestingly, the humidity was within a percent or two of the SensorPush. For this hatch, I'm going fully off the SensorPush readings as I have really good confidence in it. I can also export all the readings at the end of the hatch and save that data away.

Anyone hatching pigeons, today may be your set day!

Here's the rest on deck.

Mine are set as of this morning! Mostly Bantams a few standard sized.

This is a Kindergarten classroom hatch. I've only hatched at home in the past and it was hard to leave them in the school when I went home!!

Three classes are hatching but I'm only entering the contest/thread with the eggs I set in my incubator. Among the 6 teachers/paras in the 3 classes 2 of us are crazy chicken ladies and we put more eggs in our incubators than planned (of course!). We finally had co-workers take the spare eggs to bring home so we wouldn't keep adding :).

We are hatching some from each others flocks to add to our own flocks. Fun, Fun :jumpy. In my incubator about 2/3rds are from my co-worker and 1/3 from my flock. It will be so fun to have new varieties and mixes. I won't say the total amount I set here in case we're not supposed to for the contest.
