Our elementary school hatches, too. My two favorite hens were "Kindergarten Dropouts!"We have babies in my classroom hatch! They hatched last night into this morning. It's been hard for me to incubate away from home but the kids reactions this morning made it all worthwhile! Both of the other kindergarten classrooms also have some babies.
Maybe make a separate thread for this?So my chicks finally hatched and one of them is having problems. His legs are stuck out to the side (splay leg most likely) but what I'm concerned about is when he's upright his head goes up as high as it can and he behaves like he can't move it. He also keeps falling over. Is the lack of balance a side effect of splay leg or is it something else?
Ah! Thanks for the reminder, I always tend to forget which way they are sexable, but from the previous hatch the ones that had the white spots on their head are all looking roosterish, so it tracks. If your Cr Legbars hen is barred then crossing her with your BCM would make the chicks sexeable at hatch. Little roos will have a spot on the top of the head and hens would not.
