16th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

Hi all, guess I am joining cause I just set eggs yesterday! They are due to hatch on May 2 so I am barely squeaking in. I will be hatching Swedish Flower eggs from my own flock.
I wasn’t planning to hatch yet but one of my hens went broody. She is sitting in a nesting box that is shared by the other hens, so I don’t think eggs would be safe there. So I threw a bunch of eggs in the incubator and hopefully some chicks will hatch for her.

A little late posting! We set 10 standard backyard mix eggs in our brinsea mini. A beautiful mix of greens, olives, and dark brown eggs from another local.

We lost our boy, Hank, and two of our old ladies this winter. Our girls are lost without their hubs and I think 2 of our 4 remaining hens are probably on their last year of production so we're ready to add whoever hatches to our feathery family. Got the brooder all set up this weekend, cleaned out the chicken run really good last weekend, still need to build the new coop we ordered and probably time to update our food & water situation before the flock expands again. But we're almost ready and I can hardly wait to share this little adventure again 😍

We picked up our last two chicks from the Farm store late Saturday. We had t choose substitutes since the hatchery didn't send the store some breeds at all and sent random substitutions. For my substtutions I chose a Smokey Pearl and another Turken. So now the 6 are together and waiting for their hatchalong sisters and brothers to hatch!
