Hi,
So I was hoping someone could give me an estimated time frame in which these chicken breeds start laying. I know the general rule that is seen most often is between 18 to 24 weeks, but that's not a true statement for different breeds of chicken. Various breeds have different time frames. So here is my list of chickens:
  • Starlight Green Egger
  • Prairie Bluebell Egger
  • Olive Egger
  • Sapphire Olive Egger
  • French Black Maran
  • Ameraucana
  • Midnight Majesty Maran
This is my first time owning these breeds of chicken. My usual is Barred Rock chickens and I know the time frame in which they normally start to lay.
Any help or information would be appreciated!
Thank you!

The egger breeds 20-24, but hybrids can vary, some heard of laying as early as 12 weeks!
The Marans, 24-26 weeks (6 months).
Ameraucana 20-24 weeks.

For those of us with silkies, it's in months -- between 7 to 9 months.

Lol. I celebrated on Monday when I found out one of my silkie girls started laying! Hatch Date was in May I believe. I literally did a happy dance, told her she was a good girl, and ran out to grab her veggies for laying such a pretty egg.
