This is my 2nd try, as first time I had gbaby continually trying to love chickens while they were in cardboard coop in house. Waited it out a couple years and hubs just finished assembling coop for my (i believe) 4+ week old pullets. I have two barred rocks and two Rhode Island reds, They have wings and tails, and have been flying the last week. They tolerated my long haired dachshund, until my daughter let him loose while they gave me the runaround-the-rosemary-bush in my raised bed garden. He got one in his mouth (was excited but didn’t seem determined to harm/kill) for a split second and we (self, hubs, and grown daughters) proceeded to stir up dirt and rosemary oil for the next 15 minutes catching the four determined-not-to-be-caught chicks! Won’t do that again! I mainly want chickens as pets, but know some folks who will eat our extra eggs. I do have to leave town occasionally and need advice on caring for them for about 24-36 hours just in case. We are in southeast AL, not far from the FL panhandle, so we usually have the beach’s weather, hot and super humid in Summer and weird winters, cold but rarely freezing.

Welcome Cool.gif

Nice introduction!

Get a bird net for catching them. You can use a fishing net too but some of they have too big of holes for little chicks.

Strong case for separation anxiety! good luck!
