I have figured out how to keep Hope happy when she's in her bed, after 4 days of crying when I had to put her in to feed and sleep I thought maybe my picture would bring her happiness and comfort. And well as you can see, she's 1 happy Hope.. it's a win, win

Necessity it the mother of invention! Good job!

So are you noticing any improvement in Little Hope since she has been on the antibiotic? Is she beginning to eat.

Absolutely, she has improved 100% , it's amazing what just a little shot and some antibiotics will do on just 2 days! She's going to be fine :)

Fantastic! Thank God! Poor baby. Doesn't it make you wonder how she picked up the infection? You said she had fluid in her abdomen, could she have picked up an infection from her yolk sack? It does make you wonder.

We came home today to 8 beautiful new chicks. Dolly had dropped a Poo Bomb in her nest and I was terrified that she had bombed her chicks. Got a coffee can of warm water, some paper towels and went to work. I grabbed two babies from under her and put them in the nursery box, then grabbed her and did a quick butt scrub before I put her back with her two babies and put the others up with her. Luckily she had missed them all but I imagine they were glad to get away from that toxic broody perfume. One baby is pale yellow with some light brown smudges on its head and the darkest looks like a little Welsummer chipmunk. Since one of my bantams was caught doing the deed with my young Welsummer cockerel I can only conclude that chick is the result. I left them with mom teaching the three oldest how to eat chick crumbles out of a mayonnaise lid. If they aren't out and moving tomorrow I'm going to have to motivate mom so she gets them drinking. At the moment, the poor little lady looks plain pale and tired.

I'm so glad Hope is doing better. Looks like you named her right.

So after 3 days I have caught up on this thread and I am SO SO inspired by you @lucysducks11!!!!! I'm so glad you have the 'bator to keep turning babies out and keeping your hopes and spirits up!!! Now that I can resume doing actual work instead of reading the Duckling Chronicles I will stay caught up! I have 21 eggs under my Welsh Harlequin right now should hatch end of next week!
