When I picked up my chicks at a local, family owned feed store near me, I knew, specifically which one's I wanted. The line was long and I hate being that one to hold up a line. Needless to say, employee started grabbing up my listed chicks. I'm labeling them here as to what I was told they were.
Buff Orpington (Pic 1): Do they come in Black??
The girl with the light black and white breast patch, was supposed to be the Buff Orpington I requested. Store said that's what they were sent. Because of my lack of breed markings, I assumed it still could be of a dif color.
Barred Rock; (pic 2 & 3. She's a beautiful solid black and
developed reddish striping of her breast feathers.
My only worry is I chose these breeds for their higher survival rate of our weather in my location (egg size and qty was my secondary reasons).

Already screwed up my 1st post. Lol
1st and 3rd pic is the "Barred Rock" I was given.
2nd pic is the "Buff Orpington" I was given.

Im afraid you do not have the breeds you asked for. I agree the one is a black sex links. One of its parents was likely a barred rock. I'm not sure on the second. They should lay plenty of eggs, they will be fine in colder temperatures.

TY I was on computer as soon as I got them home and just knew I didn't get what I wanted. No biggie.
Thanks for reassurance of the colder temps.
They are under a huge shade tree that should give them E to W sun protection through our brutal pressure cooker style summer heat.

If you have black australorps you'll love them; nice, friendly birds. Another way to tell is true BAs will have a wonderful emerald green sheen to their pitch black feathers, best seen in sunlight. Not sure if crossbreeds will have that distinction.

TY I don't think I got lucky with the "true" any breed. Lol I have 3 others and I'm betting only one of my 5 are closest to pure and the breeds I asked for. She's my Sapphire Gem.
My Golden Laced Wyandotte seems to have lost her lace and my Speckled Sussex has lost her speck. 🥴
Is it exceptable to call them mutts? 🤣
Meh, I have what I have and I'm just fine with that.

Feel free to post pictures of your other chicks if you're really curious.

Agreed, post pictures of the other chicks if you don't mind! Speckled Sussex change a lot during their juvenile molts and like any mottled bird will generally develop more white with each molt. And lacing usually looks weird as the bird is going through the juvenile molts too.

Oh good! Sounds like I have a chance for prettier birds! Because right now, they all look like generic mutts of black and grey. I was going for an artistry vision of more color. The Buff Oprington, that isn't, was supposed to help break that up. I've watched too many home improvement shows! 🤣
I will definitely be posting pics.
