Got a white leghorn pullet at TSC on 4/10. So probably 4-6 days old now. After a day I noticed she was a little off and had a swollen dark area on her lower left rear area a little below her vent. She also had a black scab over her umbilical. Later that day I noticed blood in her stool and treated for cocci which brightened her up after about a day. After syringe feeding her treated water and egg yolk all weekend she seemed to be perking up. Her scab also came off. When I came home from work tonight she seems to have turned towards the worst again. I've continued syringe feeding her but I'm thinking the dark swollen spot may be the ultimate issue. Has anyone ever encountered something like this? Pic of dark swollen spot under skin shown below.

I'm sorry she's not doing well.

The photo is not clear so it's hard to tell what's going on.

Does it look like the vent has been picked at by other chicks?
Possible there's infection.

Is she pooping?

Likely she brightened up with you giving her fluids. I'd work on hydration and see if she will eat. If you're treating with Corid, then continue with that.

She has since passed. The spot was under her skin and swollen like a bruise of sorts. No one had been picking on her. My best guess is some sort of internal injury from hatching/shipping to TSC. RIP little chicky. 😪😪😪
