Hi fellow chicken mommas!

I am left scratching my head at what the heck is going on with one of my hens.

Timeline leading up to:
- 1wk ago I noticed respiratory distress (mouth breathing and gurgling), diarrhea, no appetite, and just not her usual self.
- I immediately isolated her and started supportive care (rooster booster, hard boiled eggs, Corid x3days, and syringing fluids with electrolytes and probiotics). I also started her on a remaining course of amoxicillin combined with something (can’t recall other active ingredient) I had from a previous vet visit prescribed for my flock (had 7days worth).

- After completing antibiotics her breathing and respiratory health is back to normal thank goodness. Her color looks good, and she is more alert but still not 100% and has persistent diarrhea/abnormal stools. No evidence of worms or blood to the naked eye, just rotating between watery white and green or watery with hard clumps sometimes with undigested food bits. She has grit and oyster shell in her “chicken isolation pen” as we call it. Crop feels good not firm or too squishy.

- She is slowly resuming eating on her own but still having to push fluids. She has stopped laying since her illness which I expected and no evidence of egg bound, but started epsom soaks twice a day yesterday just to see if she passes something unusual. No sores or ulcers, no mites or lice, etc.

-I treated her for coccidiosis when this started, but haven’t repeated. I didn’t deworm her recently because I typically treat the flock in the spring and fall.

WHAT AM I MISSING! Any other suggestions welcome, I appreciate it. ❤️

Hi! I think she needs longer on antibiotics, probably 10 days or longer, especially since you're seeing undigested feed. The infection is still in her body.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback, since her respiratory improved I thought it was safe to discontinue after 7, will resume!
