hello! I have a chick who has had an inflamed vent for 5 days now. No prolapse, but painful for her to defecate. She’s also losing her feathers underneath her vent and it constantly looks wet and seems slightly infected, there is a smell and a little bit of white on there area. I’ve been using hemorrhoid cream for her vent and cleaning the balding area underneath twice a day with soapy water, then alcohol but today I am about to start using iodine. It’s really hard to clean her balding area and I don’t want to hurt her so even after there’s still some white like substance glued to the few features there. Her vent is clear and there isn’t any caked up poop! She’s eating and active like the others, I’m just worried that it won’t improve. I’m seeing if probiotics can loosen her stools and make it easier as to keep Inflammation down.

Is there a time frame I should see improvements? I’m just worried about her and don’t want her to suffer. And don’t know if there’s a time frame where I should just consider ending it if things don’t improve.

I’ve been focusing on keeping her balding area as clean and dry as I can and the brooder clean.

Welcome to BYC!

Could you get a picture? How old is she? What's her diet? What bedding are you using?
I would probably not use any alcohol and iodine, and stick to the cream, since she probably doesn't need them and you don't want to overdo it.
I would try getting some coconut oil into her to help her defecate easier. Definitely give her some probiotics, and you could try egg and Greek yogurt too.
Are any other chicks pecking her behind, that you've noticed?
I'm not sure how soon you should see improvement, but I don't think its something that you would need to put her down for.
