I started my little backyard coop very optimistic but since moving to PA, I have been overrun with rats. They are extremely large and intelligent and I just cannot keep up anymore. I have tried everything to get rid of them and the damages that they're causing my coop is astronomical. At this point, it feels like I am paying to feed the rats rather than my girls. I can't do this anymore so it is with a heavy heart that I have to rehome them. There are 4 pure silkies and 1 silkie easter egger (she has a silkie body but regular chicken legs). They lay but not consistently. 2 of them are 3 years old and the others are less than a year (born July 15th). There is 1 white one (easter egger), 1 buff one and 3 black ones. If anyone thinks they can offer them a permanent loving home, please let me know. I'm right outside of Philadelphia.

I wish I could take them but I’m in Ohio : (

You've maybe tried some things, but these videos that are in this thread are by an expert in rat riddence. Perhaps there is something yet you could do to keep them down and keep your chickens.

I wish you the best and if you have to rehome, I wish you luck! ❤️
Thank you so much! Unfortunately I have tried all of that and the rats are now out during the day! I got a new metal feeder and don't leave any food out at night but they have adapted and are making new holes faster than I can plug them up! I am at my wits end and just want a better life for my girls :(
