5 week old Araucana guess

Hi all,

This is a 5 week old Australian Araucana (Our breeding standards are different).

I know it’s early- but what do you think? Boy is my guess because its comb looks pink & has 3 rows of peas already. It’s also quite pink under the chin.

I’m new with this breed so I welcome your expertise

I think for the age, your guess of having a boy is good! I have 5 week old chicks right now too and some of my boys are starting to be obvious even though they are young.

I'm leaning cockerel as well, that's a pretty big comb for so young.

I want to keep him but don’t want to annoy my neighbours. We’ll give him a go & hopefully he doesn’t make a lot of noise

Update- we found a great home for him where he will have a backyard to forage and have a few girls!

Even though he had known us since he was a day old, he was the most skittish and goofiest chicken we had ever had. He would overreact over everything and run on the spot. He was showing zero dominance over our hens. They would peck him if he tried to crow.

So long little fella. It was a great 16 weeks
