A typical trait of a male EE is reddish/rust color appearing on the shoulders. They will also have an uneven color pattern in general. It's hard to tell with your kid holding it.
thank you.At this point I think it is a pullet. Not enough comb height and color to say it is a male. But watch the comb for a growth spurt in the next few weeks, which would indicate a cockerel.
