I did!!!! The white and paint are boys, and the black baby is a girl. I’m really shocked about Eddie as his behaviour, looks and stance have been 1000% female except the chest bumping.

I’ve been terribly sad today and also trying to work out how I can keep roos

I’ve heard the no crow collars are actually cruel as they literally restrict their airflow and choke them so they can’t crow I have however read about a lady who keeps her roo in the house in a blackout dog crate at night, and lets him out mid morning to be with the flock… she’s been doing it for a year and says it works great.

If you find any solutions I’d love to know!!

Oh, they were my guesses for you!! Jacks has a 'softness' in her eyes the others don't! haha so scientific! I'm so certain I've picked which of mine are roos but we'll see! Going to look into sending DNA off soon.. I'm also considering having them sleep in a spare room at night.. I don't much know about the no crow collars- going to find out more. I asked the breeder if cruel and she said no.. I agree though - it does sound cruel!! I'd never heard of them. She said they're not meant to be too tight and the idea is using it when they're still growing so their neck muscles don't grow as much (or something like this!!) So I assumed they only wear when young and develop a softer crow?? Probably completely wrong!

Unfortunately, the breeder is lying to you.
Silkies are just as loud as any other small rooster, even worse since they can be shrill.
No crow collars work by strangulation, often the birds suffocates or chokes to death with them and they barely work.
If the breeder reccomended them, that does not show well to the knowledge of the 'breeder'

Oh, that sounds awful!! The lady said to use when they're growing and not have too tight.. She was talking about muscle development so has to be when they're young only?? I was a bit dubious though! Makes me sad to think of people using them so tight.. I could never.. I was hoping it would be a gentle, short term solution so good to hear your advice. Thanks.

I've never heard that, it just keeps the diaphragm from fully expanding from how I understand it.
