I was cleaning out my coop to get it ready for spring and thought it would be a good time to take some pics.

It's 8x16. I made it using 2x2s, OSB, and tin roofing. The studs and rafters are all 2x2s doubled or tripled up.
Thats what you do when you buy 1400 2x2s for $100.

It has double doors on both sides. One will lead into the run. I have a 12 hole nest box I need to hang. I also
need to construct my run on one side and cut a pop door.

There isn't a run at the moment. I will be building it over spring break. I will use 4x4s every 5'
and 2x4s along the top and bottom. 6' chicken wire for fencing and alternating hot and ground
wires on the outside. That should keep about everything out that doesn't fly.

I don't have chickens in it at the moment. The plan is to use this coop for my breeding flock.
I raise all my meat birds in tractors so I dont use this except for layers. I had a small flock in it
this winter but had something get in and wipe them out. (one door was mistakenly not secured)

Unless you're going to put a top over it don't put a the top rail 2x4 on the fencing. The chickens will see and think "Hey! There's a neat roost!!!"....and then it's over the fence. I'd just string the wire without the top rail and maybe insert a smaller 1x1 or 2x2 post to attach your hotwire standoffs to.

Best wishes,
Ed
