Hello,

I have 2 silkie chickens that just turn 9 weeks. I hatched them and they've been together since. But just today morning they start to fight with each other. At first one look like playing with other then later turn into a fight. I stopped them. Later I gave them mealworms oddly they stopped

fighting or staring competition. Until now they had staring competition again they stared until falling sleep and start staring again. Until they fought for real me and my mum separated them up. Please click the link below.

I also added pictures of them in here. White name NewYear and brown name Eve. Can anyone tell me what's happening? Why are they fighting? Eve didn't eat much right after not win towards NewYear. Oh Eve started first this morning.

They are probably trying to work out the pecking order. At that age a lot of chicks will spar.

Thank you for reply. I tried to stop them by clapping hands or make some loud noise. At first NewYear won the fight (she peck the neck and I stopped her so no injuries just feathers everywhere) but she went under dinning table sulking turn her back. When I put Eve down she went to see NewYear. She still sulking not even turn back. After mealworms they back cuddle with each other again (and repeat again). I thought they were hot and cause them cranky since in Australia now is summer. I bathed them and they were clam after for temporary.

Me and my mum also thought they might didn't get enough sleep since they love to have us human to pad them to sleep. Last night when put them to sleep they still grumpy with each other so my mum grabbed Eve and put in small basket to sleep next to her. Today so far they're still at it a bit but I distract them with mealworms and some paper for them to tear up. They LOVE croissant so I scattered a bit to them. Still eat feed but not much. They wanted different like eggs and corns. I hope those work to distracted them enough.

They will continue to spar until the pecking order is decided between them. I'd let them work it out as long as there isn't any real harm being done. Eventually they will figure it out.

Ah I see. I'll try to look out then. So far Eve losing since she has shorter on her legs, neck and beak than NewYear. But she's heavier despise she was once smaller and lighter before. Whenever fight starts it's Eve start but losing to NewYear. Eventually Eve would jump into NewYear since she's heavier to make match equal (yet still losing later). NewYear later sulking and upset afterwards even though she won.
